How it works
If you need help with your home improvement project, you can apply for our Community Builders service by providing some information and documents, such as:
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address
- Your household income and expenses
- Your home ownership or rental status
- Your home condition and repair needs
- Your proof of identity and residency
- Your proof of financial hardship or emergency
We will review your application and verify your eligibility. We will then contact you to schedule a home inspection and assessment. We will also provide you with a list of local volunteers and members who can perform the repairs or improvements for your home.
We will be able to choose the volunteers or members that best suits your needs, budget, or emergency. You will also be able to review and approve the work plan and estimate before the work begins. We will monitor the work progress and quality until it is completed.
If you want to help others with their home improvement project, you can sign up for our Community Builders service by providing some information and documents, such as:
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address
- Your volunteer interests, skills, and availability
- Your proof of identity and residency
We will review your information and match you with the most suitable home improvement projects that we have in our network. You will also have access to our online portal, where you can view and manage your services, track your volunteer hours, and communicate with our staff and volunteers.

We can help you with repairing, replacing, or installing new carpets, tiles, hardwoods, laminates, or vinyls.
Windows
We can help you with repairing, replacing, or installing new windows that are energy-efficient, secure, and attractive.
Furniture
We can help you with repairing, replacing, or installing new furniture that is comfortable, functional, and matches your home decor.
HVAC
We can help you with repairing, replacing, or installing new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that are energy-efficient, quiet, and provide comfort for your home.
Siding/Decks

We work with local volunteers and members who are licensed and experienced in performing home repairs and improvements. Rebuilding Together St. Louis
This is a local nonprofit organization that provides free home repairs and modifications for low-income homeowners, especially seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.
Habitat for Humanity St. Louis
This is a local nonprofit organization that builds and renovates affordable homes for low-income families in partnership with volunteers and donors.
Home Depot Foundation
This is a national nonprofit organization that supports local nonprofits that provide home repairs and improvements for veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities.
Lowe’s Heroes
This is a national volunteer program that engages Lowe’s employees in community projects that provide home repairs and improvements for people in need.
